Review: LOOKING FOR A CURE FOR DIABETES? THIS IS IT !!!!! I Can't say enough good things about the program for curing diabetes described in this book. Let me just say I know first hand IT WORKS!!!!! I have a roommate who was deathly ill with rampant diabetes, was injecting himself with 10 units of .... after each meal and 35 units of ..... each morning to start off his day. His neuropathy in his feet made his life miserable ( although he was taking medication for this as well ), his eyesight was going, and his energy level was that of a 101 year old man. He walked like a 120 year old man and could barely make it up and down stairs. In other words he was miserable! We got this book and two of Dr. Cousens raw food cookbooks and started on a raw food regime with some of the supplements recommended by Dr. Cousens in this book. I know you will not believe what I am about to say but it is ABSOLUTELY TRUE! First he was able to leave behind the injections after meals then came down form 35 units in the morning to 20 to then 15 and I am talking about in less than two weeks (really in much less time). Then stayed at 15 for a few days then down to 10 units. Each time we waited for him to stabilize his sugar levels throughout the day and then moved on accordingly. But the levels were never crazy out of control. Then he went down to 5 UNITS ! A DAY and then started taking his pills (malfo....) which he had stopped taking and probably shouldn't have quite yet. But then withing days he was able to stop injections altogether with a few days and just relied on his pills (one in the morning and one in the evening) and stayed that way for almost two weeks until he started to see a drop AGAIN in his morning fasting blood sugar in the 80's! and has now stopped ALL MEDICATION ALL TOGETHER!!!!! INCREDIBLE BUT TRUE! I am talking about someone who was so very sick for several years and insulin dependent for two years. The doctors that treat him have practically fallen off their chairs! and are calling in all the head honchos in their department to view this case! At one point my roommate had even looked like he was dying from AIDS that is how deathly ill he became with his diabetes. His energy level has risen significantly and his neuropathy has diminished significantly he can climb stairs without the help of a bannister now. He walks quite a bit and stands without trouble. I mean the change is AMAZING! All this in less than two months. He of course will continue to renew his health with the advice in this book and eat raw for several months to come to continue to heal. Dr. Cousens program in Arizona I believe now costs thousands of dollars but if you have courage you can try to use the information in this book and the recipes in his cookbooks or just buy good organic pre-prepared foods in your local health food store which we did as well to have on stock in the refrigerator. But make sure you buy at first only those raw foods that adhere to the protocol in phase one of the program explained by Dr. Cousens. The traditional diabetes doctors that had attended to my friend and roommate had told him hew would be on insulin for the rest of his life! All I can say is EAT RAW AND REGAIN YOUR HEALTH!!!! Review: I purchased this book in "used" condition-happily, it is in "new" condition.
It arrived quickly and nicely packaged.
This book is a very important testimony of the benefits of a Live Food Diet combined with low sugar intake-the research included is plentiful & profound.
If you are interested in or concerned about Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes and or healthy longevity this is an excellent book!

Title: A Book that Serves 3 Different Audiences Very Well!

Review: This book seemed to have 3 primary purposes and audiences: 1) to help people understand causes for diabetes and other related degenerative diseases, and to offer a range of research-based solutions for reversal of diseases, 2) to provide compelling research to the health-based research community (which sometimes has a depth beyond general layman understanding), and 3) to promote/market The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center and Dr. Cousens' overall work around the world (sometimes with obvious redundancy). Dr. Cousens has established a very credible reputation for his successes with people of mild to severe issues, and it is likely that different readers will have an interest in different purposes for reading this book.
After awhile I learned to read for the sections of content that were most relevant for me, and found it to be deeply helpful. After reading the front section of the book about Dr. Cousens' crusade to help people all over the world, including many people in poverty, I was surprised to find that the 3-week diabetes program at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center is well over $10,000. This obviously will not be accessible to masses of people, but I think the book offers a strong enough foundation that people will have the proper tools to help themselves. While the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center offers the opportunity to fully plunge into an individualized program of solutions, the majority of people who will be pursuing this work on their own may need to look at how to best transition into these practices (e.g., vegetarianism).

Title: Revolutionary. Brilliant. A Challenge. Must Read

Review: Outstanding, thoughtful, filled with data and most notably a potential "alternative" addition to the Esselstyn program and to a lesser degree the Ornish program for -reversing- heart disease. Although Dr Cousens focus is on reversing diabetes which he shows can be accomplished rapidly in a disease thought to be absolutely fixed in its progression (see also Joel Fuhrman) many of the heart indicators ( as well as blood sugar) are improved radically as well. If I read it right and recall it correctly even to a greater extent than Esselstyn reports for his program. (Though Dr Cousens did not measure changes and improvement in blood flow in the heart or report verbal reports of changes in Angina)The potential alternatives or additions or modifications to the Esselstyn approach and Ornish "undo" program both of whom I believe have revolutionized modern medicine and our understanding of heart disease, would be the inclusion of raw foods and algeas ie spirulina, and the high absorption green drink and smoothie, Esselstyn believes chewing food is very important here and it appears bans them for heart disease patients) most importantly the inclusion of nuts with their saturated fats and high calories directly or for dressings soups etc. Nuts are absolutely excluded in the Esselstyn and In Ornishes "Reversal Diet." Finally it seems to me lurking in the background is the whole issue of "calorie restriction". And it's impact on diabetes and heart disease. I haven't counted and I know Ornish recommends ad lib eating and losing weight but do vegans and vegetarians who follow these guidelines eat less? I highly recommend reading dr Cousens books along with dr joel Fuhrman on diabetes reversal and possibly heart disease. And of course absolutely check out the data and work and videos of dean Ornish and dr ️Esselstyn as well.
